Main tasks

The internship at KSK was like any other law firm internship. I was under the corporate team which was really small and comprised of only two associates who were under the direct supervision of the Partner. Further, my supervisor was Ms. Sindhuja Kashyap.

The work assigned can vary depending on the work load and the type of work with then associate on that day. Mostly, the litigation team is allotted drafting work and research on various legal issues and the corporate team is allotted the same but on corporate law specific issues.

I was allotted research on SEBI rules and regulations, MCA notifications, IBI Code, Companies Act and domestic enquiry laws. I was further allotted drafting of TSRs from time to time, and an article on domestic enquiry laws and status in India.

When the work which could be delegated with the corporate team was little or none, the interns were allowed to take work from the litigation team which mainly comprised of drafting of legal notices and research on various legal issues.

All interns are required to give a presentation to the entire office on the last Friday which falls before the end of the internship. The topic may either be chosen by the intern himself/herself or by their supervisor. This presentation is followed by a question and answer round where the associates engage in asking the intern a little about the presentation topic.

Work Environment

The office does not comprise of more than 7-8 interns at once and thus the associates take personal interest in you. If you run into an associate during lunch break, they’ll ask you about law school, previous internships and advice you on how to better your CV and future prospects.

Further, associates are courteous and encouraging, making the time spent at the internship a good time. They also take the time to explain you the proposition in detail before assigning it to you, and are very approachable in case you have doubts regarding the same.

A very big plus is the time that the office staff takes to play volleyball towards the end of the day every Friday. The associates along with the office help boys all wind up their work early to make time for the sport!

Things I learned

  1. Drafting of TSR.
  2. Drafting of Legal notices and reply to legal notices.
  3. Functioning and working of professionals under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code.
  4. Concept and functioning of a Domestic Enquiry.

Stipend

None, however the interns are provided with lunch everyday which comprises of a wholesome thali!
